Andrew Travers, Chief Executive, and Dawn Wakeling, Director of Adult Social Care, celebrated the achievements of two YCB staff members on 30 June. Nina Santos, an apprentice at Flower Lane Autism Service and Steven Mgarambe from Rosa Morison Day Service for adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities both received Excellent Care Awards in recognition of their valuable contribution to improving the lives of customers on a daily basis.
Nina is the first apprentice to be taken on at a YCB service and her inspiring story will be featured in the Autumn issue of Barnet First, the Council’s magazine for all Barnet residents. Nina wrote in a thank you card to the service: “You gave me all the things I did not get from my education including inspiration and confidence. The biggest advantage of working with fun, determined and motivated colleagues like Flower Lane is that I don’t feel like I am working at all. Thank you for being a supportive team.”
Steven travels over two hours from Harrow to do his shift at Rosa Morison – he is always on time and his smile lights up customers’ days. Richard Buckman, Manager at the service says: “What an amazing employee Steven is – his award is something for other staff to aspire to.”
Many congratulations Nina and Steven!
