Valley Way is a respite service for adults with complex learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour.
Our service gives families and carers a chance to take a break from their caring responsibilities overnight, for several days or weeks.
Our highly experienced staff provide the essential level of support needed so families can rest assured their children are safe and supported when they stay with us.

What we offer
Within our modern building we provide people with:
- six bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and shower facilities
- rooms featuring adapted equipment such as hoists, grab rails and shower seats
- two waking staff each night who monitor visitors and provide assistance when needed
- freshly cooked dinner and breakfast. We encourage service users to get involved in the food preparation where possible. We can cater for any special dietary requirements and respect cultural needs.
We support people to take part in many different activities including art, cooking, music, gardening, sports and using the sensory room.
We also support regular weekend trips out and about around London.

“To be safe and happy”
“Rebecca is 28 years old and has cerebral palsy from a premature birth. She is mentally alert but physically cannot walk and is in a wheelchair.
“Valley Way provides a two-way service for Rebecca and the rest of our family. Going to Valley Way is a holiday for Rebecca and she loves it. It also gives our family a bit of a break and time to do things other families take for granted like shopping or going to the hairdressers
“As Rebecca is wheelchair bound, we had to get a chairlift installed at home. Getting her in and out of the lift is physically demanding and I’ve sprained my wrist doing it. The regular short breaks give me a chance to rest and, in the instance of my wrist, recover.
“I chair Friends of Valley Way, a charity group that raises money for service user outings. At the moment we raise enough money to allow the service users to go out twice a month and from May to September they’ll get out once a week. They do a range of outings that we can’t provide at home like seaside trips and pub lunches.
“If I go away on holiday I know Rebecca is going to be safe and happy at Valley Way with the one-to-one attention they provide. She has her own key-worker that we can contact directly who looks after her personal care plan.
“The carers are excellent and the facility is always clean. They look after all Rebecca’s personal hygiene, medication and feeding needs.”
Complimentary feedback from parents and carers
“B’s mum rang to thank us for the excellent communication in his handover book and notes. She said it was very thorough and accurate which is exactly what she wants. B always loves coming to Valley Way.”
“E came to stay with us for a week when his mum went away for a break. She rang especially to thank us for all of our hard work and to say how much she appreciates the service.”
“S has recently started using the outreach service at Valley Way and Stephen her dad is very pleased with how the staff are interacting with S and how well she seems to be settling in. S has very high support needs and can be quite challenging at times but the staff are working well with her.”
