What’s it like to work for us

Every day is different and challenging but always rewarding.

We are specialists in our field, supporting hundreds of people with learning and physical disabilities.

Based on our commitment to look after our customers’ wellbeing and right to exercise choice, we advise and guide them to take control of their lives, whether that’s in their homes or out in the community.

So if you’re after a straightforward nine to five job, then we’re probably not for you.

Our employees are passionate about making a difference, and we’re proud to play an important role in improving people’s quality of life.

Whether it’s council tenants and leaseholders, social housing residents living in Opendoor Homes properties, people at risk of homelessness, or people with learning or physical disabilities, we are committed to providing great service at great value.

Regardless of whether our people’s roles are focused on supporting customers of Barnet Homes, Your Choice (Barnet), Opendoor Homes, Bumblebee Lettings, or the whole Group, we pull together as one big team, and recognise that our employees’ dedication to our goals is our greatest asset.

We know how important it is for you to enjoy your job, and to feel appreciated, valued, and rewarded for your hard work.

Our mission would be impossible if we didn’t have great people working for us. Every area of our business is important, and no matter your role within our diverse organisation, you have a vital part to play.

We have a supportive working environment set up to help you develop your skills and reach your potential.

We are committed to equality and inclusion by valuing our people and celebrating their differences. Whatever your background or goals, we want you to be able to develop at The Barnet Group and build a future in our team.

Volunteering

Looking to help out your friends? Look no further.

There are charity groups who go that extra mile to support four of Your Choice Barnet’s learning disability services.

The groups are led by parents and carers who strive to make a difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities through fundraising for those extras that service fees do not pay for.

Their fundraising efforts have ranged from buying new sensory equipment and touch screen computers to commissioning a hydrotherapy pool that aids in vital mobility therapy.

They are always looking for more supporters and with your help they can continue to make each service a more fulfilling one.

The groups currently set up are:

  • Friends of Rosa Morison
  • FLAG (Flower Lane Action Group)
  • Friends of CommunitySpace
  • Friends of Valley Way
