YCB staff who rejected Unison’s strike action on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 September went the extra mile to continue to provide support to almost 80% of customers across YCB’s six schemes. Some customers of the two specialist services forced to close, Flower Lane and Rosa Morison, were supported instead from Valley Way respite service. Customers of CommunitySpace day service, BILS day service, Supported Living services and Valley Way continued to have services provided as usual with minimal disruption to their routine and family lives.
Tracey Lees, YCB’s CEO, says: “We are extremely grateful to our loyal and committed staff who pulled together over these last two days to continue to provide their usual quality of service to our customers. We are prepared, as stated last week, to meet with Unison and ACAS in an attempt to avert the further strike action planned for next Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 September.”
