Silver Week kicked off yesterday with Silver Sunday, Sunday 6 October with an event held by Age UK Barnet at Middlesex University in Hendon, North-West London. Silver Sunday is a national day where people of all generations can come together by hosting fun and free activities for older people. It is a day where older people can meet new people, visit new places, try new activities and connect with their local communities and the generations around them.

Proud sponsor Your Choice Barnet were in attendance at Silver Sunday promoting two newly refurbished care homes in Finchley, Dell Field Court and Meadowside. In addition, the team promoted the new extra care scheme Hester Court in Hendon which will be opening in early 2025.

Lee Quirke, Senior PR, Communications and Marketing Executive spoke of attending the event:

“It was a fantastic day and great to engage with local residents, informing them of the wide variety of services Your Choice Barnet offer. I was delighted to showcase our newly refurbished care homes at Meadowside and Dell Field Court, we were able to showcase what these homes looked like using iPads and playing the virtual tours and videos. This is a perfect way to engage with prospective residents, especially for those who are not physically mobile. The mayor and senior figures within Age UK Barnet came to our stand and were really impressed by our display and ability to promote our services the way we did at this show.

On the day, we had literature explaining the process involved to support anyone who may be interested with any questions they may have. I think our branded cupcakes went down very well and attracted people to our stand. This event would not have been what it was without the support of my wonderful colleagues from Your Choice Barnet, so special mentions to Sara White, Isabel Johnson, Kelly Cordani and Jayram Sauba.

I must also extend my thanks to Age UK Barnet for having Your Choice Barnet present at this event. Over the past six months or so, we have been building a strong relationship and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them to help us raise awareness of Your Choice and promote the services available within Barnet.”
