Your Choice Barnet’s Dell Field Court care home was delighted to welcome, Sara Bhati, an A-level student from Dame Alice Owen’s School earlier this year. Since the end of last year, Sara has been volunteering at the care home once a week to help with activities, she is a natural with the residents and loves to help with the activities being planned.
At the start of the year, Sara supported our Activities Coordinator Carol Pintus, who had set-up a nourishing trolley. The trolley included milkshakes and a variety of fresh fruits, whilst residents spent an afternoon watching films. Sara and Carol prepared a wonderful array of healthy goods to support our residents, to build up on extra fluids and stimulate their taste buds. It would not be a film without freshly made popcorn and both Sara and Carol delivered this too to our residents. For any residents with specific allergies or intolerances alternatives were provided, leaving everyone very happy. It was so successful; the team are now looking to roll this out to residents on a regular basis.
Sara spoke of her experience “Volunteering at Dell Field Court has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. Spending time with the residents is not only extremely fulfilling but has also inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. By listening to their stories, learning from their experiences, celebrating special occasions, and participating in activities, I have learnt so much. Dell Court’s wonderful community of both residents and staff truly make me enjoy the time I spent there.”
Great work Sara!
